VIDEOGRAPHY
Kristina has created short-form documentaries, multiple new human-interest video series, 30-second commercials, and the 2021 State of the City Mayoral video during her time as a digital storyteller for the City of Boston. As a reporter for the Phoenix Sports Bureau division of Cronkite News, an Arizona PBS affiliate, Kristina shot and edited packages and appeared on-air during the 5 p.m. newscasts. She covered the Kansas City Royals spring training for the Kansas City Star. Kristina was sent to cover the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where she produced packages on the culture along with features on Olympic athletes for both Cronkite News and 12News Arizona. Kristina has also covered both Arizona State University athletics and the Arizona Cardinals beat. Below are a few samples of her work.
Re-Marking the Boston Marathon
Kristina shot, edited and produced an award-winning short-form documentary and teaser about the Boston Marathon Markers, which commemorate the lives lost in the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. Kristina won a Gold Telly Award, a Gold AVA award and was nominated for a New England Emmy award as the co-producer, cinematographer and editor. The documentary was picked up by The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald and 7 News Boston. The documentary was pushed out on all City of Boston social channels, as well as by the Mayor of Boston .
MANZO
Kristina shot, edited and produced a short-form sustainability documentary surrounding Manzo Elementary School. At this school, young students in west Tucson work together in their school garden to plant and harvest vegetables sustainably for their community, which sits in the middle of a food desert. Kristina and her teammates won a Rocky Mountain Emmy student production award for their work on this documentary, as well as a BEA Award of Excellence and first-place at the SPJ Mark of Excellence Regional Awards.
Virtually Possible
Kristina shot, edited and produced a short-form documentary about the communities and residents of the City of Boston working together to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. It was nominated for a 2022 New England Emmy award. For this documentary, Kristina solicited submissions from the people of Boston to include in this documentary in an effort to make something that felt authentic and organic to the heroes and the heart that went into surviving and supporting each other.
In Your Shoes: Paloma Valenzuela
This is one of five episodes that Kristina has shot, edited and produced for the In Your Shoes series, which she started when joining the City of Boston. Paloma Valenzuela is a Dominican-American director, producer and writer who created her own web series called The Pineapple Diaries. Paloma created this series an authentic way to portray more realities for people of color that are not often represented on screen. This piece won a 2022 Bronze Telly Award in the Diversity & Inclusion category.
2021 State of the City Documentary
Kristina was asked by the Mayor’s press team to create a short-form documentary to be broadcasted live on WCVB Channel 5 to precede the Mayor’s 2021 State of the City Speech. The video was created to honor the people of Boston during the COVID-19 pandemic, to acknowledge and support the racial awakening following the death of George Floyd, and to highlight a few of the capital projects that were advancing the City of Boston forward.
Commercial for Age Strong Commission
Kristina created a 30-second commercial for the City of Boston’s Age Strong Commission, which was broadcasted on Comcast throughout the New England area. The commercial was promoted by AARP on its social channels. The video, as part of a larger campaign, was a finalist for the Adobe Government Creativity Awards.

Ipanema, Leme and Copacabana are some of the most famous and most unique beaches in the world. These beaches of Rio de Janeiro are bustling with activity at any time of the day. From right-hand man to a boss named Lefty
Dwayne Phelps is a man who functions under a new name, which is now on the front door of his dream shop. It was a tragic event that changed Phelps' life, and it was a brotherhood that showed him that change could not curtail his ambition. This piece was an SPJ Mark of Excellence regional winner and national finalist for its writing and videography respectively. Arizona State University also chose this piece of work to submit for one of the school's two Hearst award entrant spots.

Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian in history, chokes up as he says goodbye to Olympic competition for good in his last Olympic press conference, according to the swimmer, in Rio de Janeiro. Phelps explains the importance of his coach, Bob Bowman, and the next steps he plans to take as an assistant volunteer coach with the ASU Swim and Dive team, beside his beloved coach who is the head coach of the program.

Just a week after Michael Phelps' Curtain of Distraction performance went viral, the most decorated Olympian in history swam the 200-meter freestyle and 100 IM in the middle of Arizona State's dual meet with rival Arizona. Phelps, who was at ASU training for the Rio Summer Olympics and will serve as a volunteer assistant for the program now that the Olympics are over, has already had a significant impact on the program.
